iPhone 14 Pro CAD Renders Show New Punch Holes
Apple stays in the news even though it was only last week that it was launching a new iPhone, the SE 2022. Now there are leaks regarding the iPhone 14 Pro, which is shown in renders with a pill and a hole design in lieu of a notch. The renders come courtesy of @91Mobiles.
These are CAD-based renders, that show a largely unchanged back side, with a large camera module and large lenses, the LiDAR sensor and flash. Upfront we find symmetrical bezels and two punch holes: a pill shaped one for the selfie camera and also a circular one for Face ID. It could be the other way around, by the way. The Face ID module needs an emitter and an IR camera and could go into the wider pill, while the singular selfie camera could be put in the round hole.
Above and on he side of the cuts are active pixels, so there’s more room freed on the status row in the UI. Some claim that the Face ID system has been moved under the screen, leaving only the camera punch hole, but that’s just a theory and a potential approach for the iPhone 15. The Lightning port stays, so the EU pressure hasn’t made Apple integrate an USB-C just yet. Also, it hasn’t completely gone the wireless way.
The most concerning rumor I’ve heard is that the base iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max would get the same Apple A15 CPU as last year and the 14 Pro models alone would have the Apple A16 reserved. The 48 megapixel new cameras should also come to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
